Deceased Name: ISADORE ''IS'' CRYSTAL

Isadore ''Is'' Crystal, 93, passed away April 6, 2004 in Minneapolis.

''Mr. I'' was born July 9, 1910 in Poland.

He came to America in 1920; the family settled in Duluth.

Mr. Crystal was a prominent business and community leader in Duluth for over 60 years. He was the owner of Crystal's International Foods and a partner in Crystal's Distributing. He was chairman of Duluth's Visitors and Convention Bureau, active in the Chamber of Commerce and numerous service organizations. He served as president of the Talmud Torah, Tifereth Israel Synagogue, B'nai Brith, and was chairman of the Federation. He wrote a reminiscing column ''Crystal Gazing'' for the Duluth Jewish Fellowship News for the past 25 years. He was recognized by Israeli Bonds. ''Is'' will be remembered for his love of people of all ages, generosity, his amazing memory and Crystal's Cheese. He was a member of Ionic Lodge 186, Scottish Rite, and AAD Temple Shrine in Duluth.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Sara (nee Davis).

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ethel (Divine); children, Lester (Toby) Crystal of Scarsdale, N.Y., and Wash. D.C., Elaine (Larry) Hallfin of Minneapolis., Dinah (Dan) Kossoff of Jacksonville, Fla., Barry (Cheryl) Divine of Eagan, Minn., and Lyba (Michael) Divine Vinitsky of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Bradley, Alan (Marilyn), Elizabeth Crystal, Stephen (Kim) Kastrul, Tammy (Mark) Wentworth, Michelle (Derek) Axell, Jay (Shelly) Kossoff, Rachel (Rich) Lobovsky, Jay Vinitsky, Eve, Michael, Chad Divine; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Beatrice (Arthur) Goldberg.

FUNERAL SERVICE:3 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) in Temple Israel, 2324 Emerson Ave. S., Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN 55812 or The Isadore Crystal Family Fund, c/o The Sholom Foundation, 3620 Phillips Parkway, Mpls., 55426. Gathering of Family and Friends: Knollwood Place, 3630 Phillips Parkway, St. Louis Park (Sat. 7 p.m.). Interment 12:30 p.m. Friday, Tifereth Israel Cemetery, Duluth.
